Mary Nan Dupont
Mary Nan practices law in the area of estate planning and trust and estate administration. The primary focus of her legal practice is to provide high quality and affordable legal services to all clients regardless of the size or complexity. In addition to traditional estate planning, she assists clients with gifting techniques to minimize exposure to estate taxes, assists clients with charitable giving strategies, helps business owners structure business succession plans, and implements planning for individuals in need of asset protection planning.
Mary Nan is licensed in both Kansas and Missouri and has been practicing law for over 29 years. After a one-year clerkship with federal court of appeals Judge John R. Gibson, she began her legal career at Spencer Fane Britt & Browne, achieving partnership status. Following that, Mary Nan owned her own firm for 15 years, prior to joining Post Anderson Layton Heffner, LLP in 2017.
Mary Nan received her undergraduate degree from the University of Missouri – Columbia, with a B.S.B.A in Finance and Economics (Magna Cum Laude) and her law degree from the University of Missouri – Columbia (Cum Laude, Order of the Coif and Law Review). Born and raised in Chillicothe, Missouri, Mary Nan is married to Michael Thiessen and is the mother of three grown children, Nicholas, Elisabeth, and Caroline. She is active in the Kansas City Symphony League, the Lyric Opera Circle, and the Children’s Mercy Planned Giving Council.
